Zari Pure Pashmina Shawl

Size: 200cm x 100cm

This piece marries the legendary softness of pure pashm with the subtle, noble luster of metallic zari, creating a reversible shawl of timeless elegance.
Origin and Natural Harvesting
The story of this piece begins in the high-altitude plateaus of the Himalayas, over 14,000 feet above sea level. To survive sub-zero winters, the native Changthangi goat naturally grows an exceptionally fine, warm undercoat known as pashm. In spring, as temperatures rise, nomad herders harvest this precious fleece using a gentle combing process that gathers the shed wool without harming the animals.
Spinning and Traditional Handloom Weaving
The raw pashm is manually cleaned, dehaired, and hand-spun on a traditional wooden spinning wheel (charkha) by master craftswomen in Kashmir. The gossamer-thin yarn is then handed over to master weavers, who interweave it on traditional wooden handlooms using a classic herringbone weave pattern. This meticulous process yields a fabric that is astonishingly lightweight, highly insulating, and beautifully fluid.
The Value of Zari in South Asian Culture
In South Asian textile traditions, Zari—metallic thread woven into the fabric—carries deep cultural resonance, representing prosperity, festive celebration, and royal heritage. By interweaving gold-toned zari onto the reverse side, this shawl gains a dual persona: a soft, matte wool face for everyday elegance, and a luminous, shimmering golden reverse that instantly elevates evening wear and formal occasions.
Material: 100% Pure Pashm (Kashmiri Pashmina) with Zari-woven reverse.
Origin: Jammu & Kashmir (Authentic Handloom Craftsmanship).
Texture & Feel: Exceptionally soft, lightweight, and naturally temperature-regulating.

The story of this piece
Hand-spun on a wooden charkha and woven on a handloom in a quiet herringbone, this shawl has two faces. One is soft, matte mustard wool for daytime; the other carries gold zari that catches the evening light. In Kashmir, zari marks celebration. Here it is simply there whenever you choose to turn the shawl over.
