The story of this piece
An antique-gold ground and a pattern that is woven, not embroidered: every motif in this Kani Jamawar was built into the cloth with small wooden kanis, thread by thread, following the weaver's Talim code. Its flowers and paisleys tell a love story in the Mughal tradition. This is a shawl that is kept, and passed on.
